"The next time you look into the mirror, just look at the way the ears rest next to the head; look at the way the hairline grows; think of all the little bones in your wrist. It is a miracle. And the dance is a celebration of that miracle." -Martha Graham

The Story

While our bones are configured differently in depictions of our individual form, there exists an evolutionary anatomy that remains constant & shared as one species. In the marrow of our beings live the stories of our souls. No matter how evolved we become – to be alive means to feel.

Mind + Body awareness expands and contracts in a zoom in and zoom out cadence as if writing in bullet points, lyrics, gibberish and haikus as one fluent integration. Verses so ingrained we may not even recognize the messages we give and receive as we interact in the day- to- day. As if chapters were missing in an antique publication, recovering the pages lost would be like finding hidden treasures.

We strike a pose–play a position, stand tall, sit pretty, bend over backwards, fold forward and turn from side to side depending on our environment: How is it that our heart beats when it feels broken and our legs walk even when they feel stuck? Isn’t it amazing how we get up after a fall and take a deep breath even when life hurts? We walk a path and leave footprints to mark the trail for others who may shoulder too many responsibilities and need a helping hand to get back on their feet. We expand with joy in the arms of the Beloved, our hearts sing – and like spring – our whole-being blossoms in the sun.

Patterned movements relay our personalities, from subtle mannerisms to hallmark gestures -- our bodies talk with equal conviction as our spoken words. Attitudinal dispositions shift like ticks in the stock market montage as each thought, emotion and intention manifests in an outward projection. Our mind + body dialogue reads like a stenographer's transcriptions of the moment- by- moment interplay of our state of being. How we action our stance and model our stature offers a profound portal to who we are at our deepest level-- yet, so much of this conversation happens beneath our conscious radar. And while, "awareness" is a keystone element in evolutionary pursuits, it would be impossible to witness all the nuances in our exchanges without losing sight of the larger picture.

What if we could flesh out the intricacies of the words left unspoken – like a pilgrimage across a lifeline to speak their truth in ways we can name and know, and from this full picture, invite the fragments of our Self to return home and feel whole? What would it be like to facilitate such a reunion of the most profound communion and in our own unique expression, write the story we were born to tell?

To authoring authenticity, consider themes and details as partners in an intimate dance, in the same way Kahlil Gibran, the author of the Prophet, describes Love:

“But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”

In the space between our life’s themes and the day-to-day details, we dip a feather pen in the well of wisdom and from the marrow of existence; we emerge with our very own Sagebook Stories to share with the world.
